The Craft
No wonder DIY is the new black...
You can think of them as that table of edgy rebels in the high school cafeteria. When the American Craft Show comes to San Francisco this weekend, the 12 rising rock stars in their inaugural AltCraft program will be swamped with adoring fans who can't wait to get their hands on the one-of-a-kind wares that these emerging DIY artists create. All first-time exhibitors, the dozen was selected because their work illustrates the innovative techniques and materials of the burgeoning new craft movement.
Translation: from the fancy letterpress coasters to cozy hand-knitted earrings, you will want to purchase it all. To help expedite the process, a cheat sheet.
1. Boline Strand: stone and metal jewelry that's full of symbolism
2. Carly Goss: intricate woven cuffs, scarves and baby blankets
3. Derik Van Beers: he does ceramics...but that's all we know :(
