Your Weekend Guide

Flea market finds + Swedish indie pop + emerging film fun + Lower East Side art show

Feel like you and your crew are stuck in a post-winter routine rut? Rather than spending another weekend dissecting the lack of reality in the latest episode of The Hills at your favorite all-you-can-drink brunch spot, do something good for yourself—and check out our suggestions for sneaking a little culture into your days off!

Shop: The Brooklyn Flea
Sunday marks the opening weekend of Brownstoner's Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene. Nosh on Belgian wafels and dinges as you stroll through over 200 vendors (including emerging designers like Milton Carter and Lotta Jansdotter!) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.

Listen: Jens Lekman & The Honeydrips @ Webster Hall
The sweetest way to spend Saturday night? Being serenaded by the delightful indie pop—but tart—tunes of these two Swedish singer/songwriters.

Watch: The 13th Annual Gen Art Film Festival
This weekend's offerings in our 7-day long fest include a funny flick about vampire hunters, a surfing documentary and a family drama that makes "American Beauty" look like a walk in the park!

See: "My Dream Is Yours" @ Sloan Fine Art
Check out this Lower East Side gallery's first solo exhibition from emerging artist Kristin Schiele; her intense paintings and collages feature females struggling to navigate their shattered domestic environments.
