Beachy Keen
A line that's so good that you're going to want every single one of these dresses!
It's that time of year in Miami when the high temps start to creep their way toward 90 degreeswhich can make looking polished a challenge for even the most effortlessly cool of fashionistas. That is, unless you're tossing on one of the pretty handcrafted frocks for spring from L.A.-based designer, Heidi Merrick.
So, what's her story? "I make the clothes I want to wear and I believe there are more girls like me, " the brown-eyed beauty (a dead ringer for Ellen Pompeo) declares. "I believe what you wear on the outside affects who you are on the insideit is so much easier to be kind when you feel beautiful."
The spring collection of silk, canvas and linen little numbers comes in a dazzling color palette of yellow, fuschia and electric blue. The Nonnie, a flowy, crinkle chiffon caftan, was made for tossing on for poolside lounging at the new Gansevoort South, while the line's bestseller, the Aunt Judy, is a silk, belted button down dress with ruffles that's much better suited for a Lincoln Road brunch. Not ready to make a choice between the two? Opt for the Cleo Gold, a short bandeau dress lined in peach blue china silk that can pull double duty without breaking a sweat when paired with the right accessories.
Funny how having just the right thing to wear makes it so much easier to keep your cool...
