Giunta & The Art of Affordable Jewelry

Sometimes a necklace is just a necklace. Sometimes it's a piece of art.

One of these things is not like the other ones: CFDA/Vogue fashion fund finalist. Recipient of the inaugural accessories prize from the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation. Downtown darling with a healthy roster of celebrity fans. Available now at a Target store near you.

Lucky for us, Justin Giunta—an emerging designer who recently wowed the fashion week elite with his first "formal show" at New York hot spot Cipriani—is bringing his lusted-after line, Subversive Jewelry, to the masses as part of a limited-edition accessories collaboration with Target. Score one for the little guys. "In my work I am always drawing parallels between art history and modern design to explore themes of fine art and commercial design," he has said. "The only difference between the two seems to be where you sell it."

Like previous efforts, these effortlessly cool, vintage-inspired pieces are strongly influenced by a "more is more" outlook on life, playfully toeing the art/fashion divide. What sets them apart: Giunta never sacrifices wearability for visual impact. And while the eclectic necklaces, bracelets and earrings all look deceptively like his luxe mixed media pieces, nothing in this collection will cost you more than 60 bones.

"You could be fat, you could be ugly, you can be insecure about anything—but when people are engaged by an amazing piece of sparkle around your neck, they are going to love you," the designer has said.

Bling it on.

Subversive for Target will be available on Target.com and at select stores through July 20th.
