You're a Knock Out

Easy and beautiful silk pieces that make spring dressing a cinch!

28-year-old designer Nellie Partow could kick your ass. And if this emerging talent was rocking one of the exquisite pieces in her Spring 2008 debut collection, the former Golden Glove Boxing Champion would look pretty amazing while doing it, too.

After studying business at San Francisco State University, followed by a stint at Parsons, Partow gained hands-on experience working for established industry names like Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and John Varvatos. "The most important factor to me is that women feel good," she says. "When individuals embrace my designs I want them to feel effortlessly sexy, chic, timeless and unique."

And the classic silk dresses in her collection for spring—inspired by a recent trip to India—prove this kind of talk isn't just lip service. "I'm attracted to pieces that stand out for their simplicity," she explains. Soft shapes and a muted palette ensure that staples like her Belted Silk Shirtdress and Racerback Silk Dress are versatile and immensely wearable; the perfect pieces to throw on for work when you know you're going to want to kick it up a notch once the sun goes down.

Nellie Partow is available at Nicchia, 688 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe, (847) 835-2900.
