Sunnies Delight

Flashy shades that you won't spot on anyone else.

Fashion designer Karen Walker has that effortlessly cool clothing thing down to a science, so it should come as no surprise that she makes some of the fiercest eyewear on the market. In fact, her whimsical "sunnies" are so popular that when she first launched her line back in October 2005, they were completely sold out within the first two weeks.

And her new collection for spring, "Tears of Joy," promises to be just as in-demand among in-the-know types looking for something unique; strong, bright colors and an endless variety of shapes make the plastic pieces, which are named for super heroes, the perfect antidote to the Wayfarers overload of the past year. Yes, many of her offerings are only for the quirky at heart (round, daffodil-yellow frames, anyone?), but there are also most traditional, retro-inspired looks in hues like black and chocolate brown for fashionistas who are looking for a tamer—but still totally original—fix.

In a city like Miami, sunglasses are a must, but that doesn't mean you have to look like every other girl who's strolling down Lincoln Road. Don't you think it's time you kicked up your game a notch with some eye-popping eyewear?

Karen Walker Eyewear is available at Base, 939 Lincoln Road, (305) 531-4982.
