Rebelle With a Cause

Frocks chock full of sugar and spice remind us why being a girl can feel so nice.

What kind of ensemble would a modern Alice in Wonderland wear if she emerged from the rabbit hole to find herself lost somewhere on the Lower East Side? I think London-based emerging designer Sarah Brannon of Chelsea Rebelle might have just the thing in her latest creatively-titled collection, "She Cried For Rain All Summer Long".

There are bows aplenty here, but fear not, thanks to a predominantly black color palette and playful proportions, the overall effect is more downtown than delicate. A pink satin babydoll dress will guarantee that you look lovely for a late brunch at Schiller's, while the puffed-sleeve Minnie Dress in black tulle is better suited for cocktails at THOR. Cotton muslin shorts with a ribbon tie at the waist and lace frill detail around the hem were made for window shopping down Orchard—throw them on with a wife beater or the black halter neck Daisy Top, and one of her cute as a button headbands, and you're all set for a fun adventure.

Now go admire yourself in the looking glass, Alice, and figure out how you're going to sneak past the cute doorman at 105 Riv...
