Indie eBay Takes on BK

Handmade goods haven Etsy, which offers everything from cheeky t-shirts (we love this secretary tee!) to custom-made jewelry (like this naval-inspired charm necklace), is opening up a "lab" in Brooklyn. Starting February 1st, their warehouse at 325 Gold Street will offer budding artists resources (such as a silkscreen press, letterpress, sewing machines and a jewelry making station), support, and classes. The space will also host parties and trunk shows of original goods for New York-area shoppers.

And what about everyone else? Never fear. Etsy's goal is to open labs in cities across the world "to give all makers of things a place to gather, learn, share, and create."
