    Put Down Your Gossip Rags

And check out an indie flick that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the cult of celebrity.

    Thursday, August 16, 2007

The shot heard round the world. That's what a desperate paparazzo (Steve Buscemi) is looking for in Delirious, a new flick from Tom DiCillo, the New York hipster director who many have called too indie for independent cinema.

    Monday, August 13, 2007

Our good buddies Dirty on Purpose (who curated our Must Have Playlist for July and have been dominating our iPod of late) are doing a free show in Chicago with Windy City locals Head of Femur and Bound Stems, Thursday, August 16th, at Logan Square Auditorium. We highly recommend that you check it out; watch the awesome video below for "Light Pollution" if you need convincing, and then RSVP for the show here.

    Jonah Hill Hearts Fad Diets

    Thursday, August 9, 2007

Yes, we'll admit to having an unhealthy obsession. Yes, all we've been talking about with our friends for the past month or so is Superbad. Yes, we even wear our McLovin shirt to bed. But we couldn't not share this hilarious interview with Edgar Wright (the director of Hot Fuzz, a comedy which we screened at an event a few months back) and Superbad stars Michael Cera and Jonah Hill. Watch and laugh. And be sure to check out the movie, which opens in theaters today!

    The Next Generation of Funny

    Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Charismatic funny men Clark Duke and Michael Cera, who you'll see on the big screen in Superbad, starting August 17th, also just wrapped the first season of their CBS web-exclusive series, Clark and Michael. (Clark doesn't have a huge part in Superbad, but he's our favorite part of the new ABC Family show, Greek. Yes, we're way too old to be watching that. Research, obviously.)

Watch a trailer for this series (which includes cameos from David Cross, Patton Oswalt and our future husband, Superbad's Jonah Hill) below, and then be sure to check out all ten webisodes of their show!

Music Nation Pick of the Week

    Monday, July 30, 2007

Meet Music Nation, a national online video-based music contest for the best and brightest unsigned artists in rock, pop and urban music from across the United States. Each week we'll bring you our favorite video from the site, along with an interview with the up and coming band.

Be sure to surf around on Music Nation to discover your own new favorite bands, too. Read on for the interview with North Carolina rockers The Campaign 1984, an emerging band we think you should keep your eye on!

So, who are you musical heroes?
We appreciate so many different groups and artists, and the status they have earned. We admire the cult following of punk acts such as the Misfits and Bad Religion, whose fans' devotion borders on religious fanaticism. But we also appreciate the superstar status of acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns 'N Roses, and Led Zeppelin, who have burned their legends into the history of rock and roll.

Which filmmakers are you inspired by?
Vincent Gallo, Clive Barker, the Cohen Brothers, and Sam Raime. We love the grittier side of things. We love unpolished product. It gives everything a real edge. There is such thing as over-production in our opinion. Also, we love multifaceted work. When a film or filmmaker makes you take a second or third look, without being pretentious, they are doing something very right. But, in contrast, we see that there is no reason to take yourself so seriously. Sometimes life just needs to be funny.

What do you want your music and visuals to say about your band?
We like to call our music "Dirty South Rock and Roll". We think that's the best way to describe us. We're not a polished pop act, nor do we want to be. We all grew up with our parents playing country music and roots rock 'n roll on the radio, while East Bay-style punk music was providing us with a new outlook on life.

White Man's Overbite on a Tractor

    Friday, July 27, 2007

If you haven't seen our favorite comedian's music video for our favorite hip hop artist's new single, then you've been living in a hole for the past week. Zach Galifianakis (who also starred in a video for Fiona Apple) came to his new tribute project for Kanye West in a kind of surprising way:

"Kanye's trainer, Harley Pasternak, is a friend of mine, and he showed Kanye some of my videos. Then Kanye came to a stand-up show of mine and asked me afterwards if I would produce and perform a video for him. I was flying to my farm in North Carolina the next morning [and] I told him that if I could shoot it there, then I would do it. There was no audition. I did whatever I wanted. He told me to just do what I thought would work."

We wouldn't make you audition either, hot stuff. Check out the hilarious video for "Can't Tell Me Nothing" here!

    We Sense A Tearjerker...

    Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Phil Donahue. If you're like us, then the name conjures up images of bad '80s talk TV. But his new project, Body of War, a documentary about the horrible effects of the Iraq war on one soldier, with a soundtrack by Eddie Vedder, is poised to change all of that. There's no release date yet (allegedly he has been entertaining acquisition executives by inviting them one by one to his Upper East Side penthouse for private screenings!) but you can watch the trailer below.
