Girls on Film

Internet It Girl takes her paparazzi fame and puts it to good use

Alexa Chung is my all time favorite It Girl. She's cute as a button, dates a wicked lyricist, looks good in cheap clothes and most importantly, modestly shuns her It Girl status. I also feel a faux kinship with her because I chopped my hair off to channel her super cute bob and now we're growing it out in sync.

Chung is also a budding philanthropist, and has enlisted her services in a new project in conjunction with Vice magazine and Ctrl.Alt.Shift—an internet collective focused on exposing injustices of the world through photography, film and songs from the creative, free thinking youth. She's temporarily surrendering her It Girl status and putting the spotlight on women who fall under the headline "gender, power and poverty." And she wants your help. So take a break from documenting your drunken blunders and posting them on your never-ending facebook album, and take a picture of a woman who represents injustice in education, health, violence, power or another pertinent issue. The winners will receive a mentorship with Alexa Chung, and also, change the world a little bit. Start snappin' and learn more here.
