Suit Up for Fall
LA-based Peonie proves why it's no shrinking violet
Preparing for the fall means something different depending on where you live. For trend-chasing New Yorkers it's all about finding the perfect black boots to pound the pavement in style. In Chicago, it means buying a new winter coat that is both fashionable but functional. Angelenos are looking for the right light jacket to keep them toasty at al fresco house parties, and in San Francisco, they need all of the above, but want a version that's eco-friendly.
Lucky for us in the land of endless summer, these traditional autumnal concerns don't really apply. That's why we suggest you focus your attention on finding a great new swimsuit—a piece that is as wearable as it is sophisticated—to see you through the upcoming high season. One good place to start: Peonie, an LA-based swimwear company that debuted their Spring 2009 swimwear collection on the runway of Gen Art's Fresh Faces in Fashion LA event last week, and offers a bouquet of options for socialite and sun worshiper alike.
"I really wanted to work with different shapes and more unique patterns," says Creative Director Lila Caren. "The pieces were developed focusing on the different curves of women's bodies." Which explains why since launching in 2006, Peonie has caught the eye of several stylish celebrities, including Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Nicole Richie.
So whether your thing is vivacious pops of color or animal prints, when it comes to making a grand entrance poolside at the Gansevoort South, Peonie has you covered. Just be warned: this is not a collection for timid wall flowers...only blossoming fashionistas.
Peonie is available at Alea, 1630 Jefferson Avenue, (305) 535-2420.
