Hot 4 Now: Shana Glick

She's got access to some of the coolest people and places in LA—and we're asking her to spill her juiciest finds.

As the Marketing & Business Manager for our LA office, Gen Art's Shana Glick—who received her Master's in Broadcast Journalism from USC—is well-versed in chasing down leads on what's new and cool in the emerging arts scene. In her downtime this raven-haired Renaissance lady is also an expert on the art of moonwalking and where to score the best cupcakes around town. But I digress—below, four fun things that she's hot for right now.

- Caroline Stanley

1. Latin Sounds
This free summer music program sponsored by LACMA features various Latin-infused musicians or bands every Saturday. Complete with a makeshift dance floor for all levels, I've been known to cha-cha-cha my way through the night. Bring your friends, some lawn chairs and a few bottles of wine and it's the makings of a perfect summer evening.

2. Mortified
I have fond memories of high school, but not everyone shares this sentiment. Mortified is a show that let's you forget about your own teen drama, and gives you the inside scoop on other people's pasts through their personal diaries, essays, songs and photos—you name it, it has been read, sung or sketched. Performed in front of a live audience, Mortified is laugh-out-loud funny even for your most stone-faced friend.

3. project:gallery
Every time I visit this corner gallery located in the heart of Culver City's bustling arts community, I am amazed by the displays of bright new talent. Owner Beau Basse is always throwing weekend art openings and has helped launch the careers of several artists, including one of my favorites, Edwin Ushiro, whose haunting, beautiful work is currently on display through the 16th.

4. Hipcooks
Ever since I can remember, I've been saying I should learn how to cook. Now I finally am thanks to the coolest cooking school in town. With two locations, Angelenos everywhere can get hip with hands-on style classes that feature the basics with a touch of flare. The downtown spot is a loft-like space that lets you have fun getting your hands dirty, while actually teaching you a thing or two. I think I might be well on my way to throwing my first summer dinner party!
