50 Bands from 50 States: Part 5

We scour all the states we missed to find the 10 bands you need to know right now!

Saying that we have a lot of new albums strewn about the Gen Art office is kind of an understatement. Most days if you go near our Director of Music Programming's desk, you'll find tiny Carrie Schupper busy at work behind enormous stacks of CDs, press releases and random industry-related swag. While this constant flood of material is a great way to discover emerging talent, it also makes it hard to give everyone who deserves a shout out a fair chance.

Thus, 50 Bands from 50 States, our five-part playlist featuring some of the hottest emerging indie rock talents from coast to coast. Enjoy these final 10 tracks and be sure to go back and catch up on any of the bands you might have missed!

41. Nevada: Love Pentagon, "People Who Expect Nothing Will"
Leave it to Las Vegas to deliver up this glittery, over-the-top fivesome of electro pop-playing dream girls.
42. The Mollies, "Boyfriend In A Coma"
SLC folk? You betcha. This totally geek chic acoustic quartet is proof that punk music isn't the only thing happening in Salt Lake City .
43. Arizona: Calexico, "Two Silver Trees"
With a new album out in September the beloved alternative country band reveals that they can still rock out...albeit softly.
44. Colorado: Jessica Sonner, "Be With Me"
A talented singer/songwriter out of Denver with fiery auburn locks, Sonner has a soulful voice that belies her limited years.
45. New Mexico: The Real Matt Jones, "Anybody For Me"
The soft crooning by this easy-on-the-eyes folk singer might melt your heart...and if that doesn't work, his emotional lyrics should finish the job.
46. Oklahoma: Evangelicals, "Skeleton Man"
Singer and guitarist Josh Jones has the vocal chops to match his band's distorted—almost otherworldly—indie rock sound.
47. Texas: Ghostland Observatory, "Dancing On My Grave"
This irreverent electronic duo creates ballsy, beat-driven tracks that will make you get up and dance like a super freak even if you're a wallflower.
48. Arkansas: American Princes: "Watch As They Go"
A Little Rock five-piece who feels like a refreshing breath of real rock 'n roll with a playfully '80s spin.
49. Mississippi: Colour Revolt, "Moses of the South"
This Southern rock band puts down the fried chicken and embraces a heavy indie sound that's more angsty than twang-filled.
50. Louisiana: Mute Math, "Control"
Leave it to a noisy experimental rock outfit from New Orleans to include a keytar in the lineup. It's only fitting that we end our list with a bleep!
