Party On Dresses

When it comes to finding the perfect going-out ensemble, trust a nightlife expert.

Unless you're a style icon on the level of Kate Moss, occasionally reinventing your look is the key to both keeping your closet fresh and stumbling on to new looks that work for you. We think Miami-based designer Nektar De Stagni would agree. While she now creates her deliciously girlie frocks under an eponymous label, we first discovered this 20-something talent when she debuted her former line, Pelusium, at Gen Art's Fresh Faces in Fashion Miami show back in 2006.

While the color palette is basic (black and white, with a random splash of pink), De Stagni's latest collection of bold night-on-the-town dresses were meant for complicated ladies—the kind of girl who sneaks into the kitchen to give props to Chef Govind after a quiet dinner at Table 8 before dancing until dawn on the old dentists' chairs at Pawn Shop. Body conscious cuts, carefully-placed zippers and the liberal use of metallic shimmer gives these pieces a naughty girl feel that is slyly kept in check by sweet, slightly retro details like pleats and bows.

Not that we'd expect anything less than the perfect party girl wardrobe from a woman who spends any downtime she finds between designing and running her own gallery-cum-boutique hitting the decks under the D.J. name "Faux Real" at cool arty events like Poplife.

Consider it hot spot haute.
