5 Must-See Indie Flicks
Lucky for film junkies, August is a month for under-the-radar releases!
Forget "Pineapple Express." OK, you can still watch Seth Rogen and James Franco toke it up to an extremely well-chosen M.I.A. track (I plan on it!), but at the same time keep your indie street cred fresh by adding these five upcoming releases to your summer watch list.
1. "Frozen River" (8/1): An abandoned mother of two dreams of owning her own double-wide trailer; as a result, she joins forces with a Native American woman and enters into the dangerous world of illegal smuggling to earn some quick cash.

2. "Bottle Shock" (8/6): A riveting David versus Goliath story about a pair of '70s-era American winemakers' scrappy efforts to take down the stuffy French establishment in an intense tasting competition.

* 3. "Transsiberian" (8/8): When her husband disappears on the famous train ride from Beijing to Moscow, a young woman is left to fend for herself against a litany of terrors, including a creepy pair of co-travelers.

* 4. "In Search of a Midnight Kiss" (8/22): A misanthropic L.A. transplant finds himself dateless and lonely on New Year's Eve. Enter Craig's List and what might be the oddest (and most charming?) blind date in history.

5. "Take Out" (8/29): An illegal Chinese immigrant has one day to make enough money in delivery tips to pay back the vicious men who smuggled him into this country. His plight will break your heart.
