Eye Spy

Can you match these menswear looks to the watering hole where you'd spot 'em?

Popular opinion states that you can tell a lot about a man by the way he dresses, and in a trend-conscious city like New York, I would tend to agree. But can you also tell what kind of bar he would call home base? Below, I've placed my bets on which hot spots the guys wearing my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2008 collection of our STYLES 2008 menswear finalist Carola Euler would frequent. Leave it to a Berlin-based emerging talent to know exactly what it is that New York City boys want.

Look 1: White t-shirt and shorts with a fitted vest, Studio B's rooftop
It takes a seriously stylish man to rock a casual vest; to wear one with a pendant requires additional chutzpah. Light and airy, this outfit is subtle yet fashion forward...like the many of the indie rock-loving pretties who frequent this Greenpoint gem.

Look 2: Fitted gray suit with skinny leg pant, Beatrice Inn
Nothing says downtown hipster elite like a boy in a pair of tight but well-cut pants...unless it's a sort of private club in the West Village that's owned by Paul Sevigny. I love the cheeky white hi-tops, but the no t-shirt thing is taking it a smidge too far.

Look 3: Gray windbreaker with black shorts, Rusty Knot
There's a nautical feel to this polished look that would play well with the salty crowd at Taavo Somer's latest launch. While it's nicely paired with these shorts, the neutral windbreaker could become a wardrobe staple.

Look 4: Black blazer with white shorts, Home Sweet Home
This boxy blazer/loose shorts combo might not be an obvious choice (kind of like this unmarked Lower East Side dance den), but thanks to its clean lines, the ensemble comes off as effortlessly cool and pulled together.
