Wearable Art
A fashion-forward line of luxe, casual menswear for lovers of THECAST or Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons.
Art is a form of self-expression, and any style-driven lad will argue the same about clothing. Nostalgie owner and Virigina-based designer Bryan Bowie, 24, thought a T-shirt was a natural canvas for his artand a way for men to cater to their creative sides while adding to their wardrobes. "Guys are always hunting for something that is not the status quo, not something they walk down the street and commonly see," Bowie says. And that is exactly what he gives them.
In 2006, Bowie became a one-man design operation with the intent to patch the hole he saw in menswear because it lacked "something original and done by hand." His sketches, which can only be described as doodling on steroids, are exquisite yet eclectic. Etchings of images such as feathers, an Indian headdress, a baby carriage, and goats on stilts pop against the white backdrop of a super soft cotton tee.
But for his Spring/Summer collection, he decided to offer more. Now customers can choose from 11 designshis largest offering yetthat can be printed on crew necks and hoodies, as well. To add to his resume, he's also debuting an accessories line of belts, key fobs and scrimshawed necklaces, using sterling silver and vintage materials with leather and wood details. He cuts and burns his designs onto the leather of each belt and houses it in a custom wooden box for fine keeping; all handcrafted, each piece is signed and numbered to authenticate its exclusivity.
Bowie's collection offers the essentials for any man looking from something different. From the sports-lover drinking a Bud Select at Cubbie Bear to the trendsetter sipping a Sapphire and tonic (with a twist, of course) at Le Passage, any style aficionadoor lover of beautiful artworkwill appreciate what Nostalgie has to offer!
Nostalgie is available online directly through www.odinnewyork.com.
