YouTube Killed the MTV Star
Beat a case of the Mondays with 3 of our favorite new indie music videos!
Ever since Carrie Schupper (Gen Art's Associate Director of Music Programming, for those of you playing along at home) told me that the buzz band of the moment, MGMT, would be playing the Closing Night party of our film festival on April 8th, I've had this Brooklyn indie pop pair on the brain. Which is why I can't stop playing the interactive music video game for their catchy song "Electric Feel". It's kind of addictive.
Which got me thinking about the flood of cool new music videos that have recently been released. Below, three of my favorites. Kill some time at work by checking out this fun eye candyand send me an email here with a link to your favorite music video for a chance to win a pair of passes to see MGMT play tomorrow night at Spotlight Live!
Justice, "DVNO"
If their dancey electro pop doesn't transport you back to the '80s, then this Paris duo's stylish new video, which features neon-colored, retro graphics, will definitely do the trick. Crank it up and D.A.N.C.E.
Miracle Fortress, "Have You Seen In Your Dreams"
Not to dredge up too much childhood nostalgia, but this Canandian indie pop quartet's use of an Etch-A-Sketch in their new video is simply brilliant. It also makes me wonder why all I could ever draw was a set of stairs...
Cassettes Won't Listen, "Paper Float"
You know how watching The Office makes you feel better about life in your own little cubicle? Jason Drake's warped vision of the 9 to 5 world will make you wish that you could just turn into a robot, too.
Spotlight Live is located at 1604 Broadway, (212) 262-1111. To buy tickets now for the Closing Night premiere and after-party, click here!
