March Movie Madness
This year's Gen Art Film Festival kicks off on April 2nd. Here's how to get your cinema jollies before then.
This time of year, everyone in our New York office has movies (and after-parties!) on the brain. With our exciting Gen Art Film Festival less than two weeks away, I thought I'd give big screen junkies a few fun events to check out as you count down the days 'til we take over the Ziegfeld. Enjoy and grab your festival passes now by clicking here!
"Momma's Man" @ MoMA
Part of the Film Society of Lincoln Center's New Directors/New Films mini-fest, this flick from our film program alum Azazel Jacobs charmed the crowds at Sundance. The gist? A family man with Peter Pan issues returns to the nest to spend time in his parents' New York City loft. The inside joke? Jacobs' real parents take on the roles. Emerging actor Matt Boren delivers a home-run performance that makes this a must see.
"Backseat" @ The Quad Cinema
An indie comedy produced by Terry Leonard, one of the brains behind our festival flick, "Frost", this road trip pic about two aimless 30-something New Yorkers making their way to Montreal is likely to remind you of some of the dudes that you're friends with.
Sunday Night Films @ Pravda
Celebrate Russian Constructivism, the art movement that inspired Pravda twelve years ago, with a strong cocktail and a classic vintage film from the '20s or '30s. There's no cover charge for the flick; mention you read about it on Gen Art Pulse and you'll get a complimentary Zakouski Platter with the purchase of two drinks!
The Gen Art Film Festival runs from April 2nd through the 8th. For a complete schedule or to purchase tickets, visit www.genartfilmfestival.com.
