Buy a Ticket, Take the Ride
Beer, water and fake blood abound in this wild, poncho-optional production. Can you handle it?
A drunken moment of brilliance. That's how the idea for Point Break LIVE!, a stage adaptation of the '90s surfer heist flick that starred Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, was born, brah.
What keeps things interesting in this stunt-packed show? Each night an audience member is hand-selected to don a wet suit, read off of cue cards and play Johnny Utah, the role immortalized by Mr. Reeves. Then the hilarity (which involves flying shrapnel, wind machines, buckets of "ocean" water and sky diving) ensues. Yes, you're kind of dancing with the devil (What if your "Johnny" can't muster a deadpan delivery?), but that's kind of what makes it so much fun.
If you haven't seen the movie before, never fear—the gnarly, over-the-top storyline isn't incredibly hard to follow, as long as you don't mind a little dry-humping between cast members.
