Not So Idle Hands
Get caught in the wearable webs of this Fresh Faces in Fashion New York alum!
It's been a long time since we read the myth of Arachne, but Arielle De Pinto's hand-crocheted metal chains are what we imagine would have happened if that tale had sprung to life. Not only are these uniquely beautiful accessories true conversation pieces, they're also incredibly versatilejust the sort of thing you could wear dancing until sunrise at Marquee or around the house in your undies, ala Cameron Diaz in "Charlie's Angels."
So how on earth did she dream up this luxe line? "I need to do something with my hands all the time and I really like metals," De Pinto explains. "It could have looked weird but you always have to try different things and it ended up..."
Well, looking beautiful.
All of her necklaces for the coming year are made using sterling silver and vermeil metal. These homespun beauties fall like cloth across the neck, and while you might expect them to be soft to the touch, they still possess the hard edge of their material. So it's a little bit kitschy and a little bit rock and roll all at oncejust the way we like it.
Arielle De Pinto is available online here.
