It Feels So Good To Be Bad

Why not set Mel Gibson on fire for a really good cause?

Sometimes art can be so bad that you need to celebrate it. (Ergo Massachusetts's Museum of Bad Art.) There are also "piggyback artists," like Eddie Breen, who makeover bad paintings to create something new and better. Then you have people who believe that bad art deserves to be burned. Like New York comedian, Zach Galifianakis.

While we normally wouldn't support the idea of setting art on fire, in this case, it's for charity. At New York Magazine's Bad Art Auction emerging art world talents will curate some of the worst works the city has to offer, Zach will find the highest bidder in the crowd (who can either fire it up, or add it to their collection), and the proceeds will go to New York Cares. The madness will be set to the indie rock tunes of one of the most buzzed-about acts of the year (and Gen Art favorite), Band of Horses.

We're offering Pulse readers the chance to win one of two pairs of VIP tickets for Tuesday night's festivities at the Hiro Ballroom. To enter, send us an email with your name and a daytime phone number here. Because really, who wouldn't want to watch a creepy clown painting go up in flames?

RANDOM TANGENT:
We first fell in love with Zach after watching this clip. See him next in Sean Penn's Into the Wild.
