Today, The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters opens nationwide, but we were lucky enough to attend the New York premiere of the flick on Tuesday. In the interest of full disclosure, we have to admit that we don't regularly watch the cult hit cartoon, but we wanted to go anyway, just to see what all the buzz is about.

The die hard fans in the audience loved every minute of this movie (there were many guffaws and lot of armrest s;apping), but for a first-timer, the script felt a little inside jokey. (The plot is about a piece of exercise equipment that threatens the fate of the universe. Enough said.) We did laugh out loud several times, especially at the film's preface which instructed anyone in the audience with a baby to take their seed outside and let it get run over by a car.

The after-party at Pop Burger made the whole night totally worthwhile. In keeping with the junk food theme, we noshed on mini-burgers (which go surprisingly well with Merlot), fries and milkshakes. Our final take: If you're a fan of the show, or have a friend who really wants to see this movie (and can explain some of the oddball humor to you afterwards), go for it. If not, you might want to just save your movie money and use it to make a trip to White Castle instead.
