Lily Allen loves her fellow U.K. artists, Klaxons's, new album, Myths of the Near Future. She loves her sneakers (a worn pair of Air Jordans). She loves big bowls of her favorite food, mashed potatoes, especially if she's eating them in the city that she loves the most—New York.

And we love Lily Allen. So much that when Pulse caught up with the songstress at this year's SXSW festival, all we could do was gush about matters of the heart. You talk a lot on your blog about missing your mom and your boyfriend. How has fame changed your relationships in the past year?
It's been really hard for me to be away from my family, my friends and my boyfriend. It makes me sad when I go back to London and I only get to see them for one night. But the only thing that has really changed is that I don't get to see the people I love as much as I should.

"Smile" is about hating an ex-boyfriend. Does that come from personal experience?
I wrote that song about a particular ex-boyfriend. Break-ups are hard, and this one was particularly bad. All I can say it that time is a good healer. And it's really true that things happen for a reason.

In "Knock Em Out" skeevy guys are coming on to a group of girls in a pub. Have you ever used a pick-up line on a guy?
I don't mind approaching guys and I did so with my current boyfriend. Why not? I told him I was locked out of my house and I had to stay over at his place. And it worked.

Are you a romantic person? Do you believe in public displays of affection?
I'm definitely a P.D.A. girl. And I love giving and receiving presents.

We love your blog. Do you find that writing is therapeutic?
My blog is a form of liberation for me—it's a way to directly get my feelings to my fans.
