Brooklyn Fashion Week

Brooklyn, that big-little-city within a city here in New York, hosted its own fashion week. Why you ask, when the big tents go up every year in Manhattan's Bryant Park would anyone need a second fashion week? Well, that's because throwing a fashion show is about two things: contact and cash. To make the fashion industry just a bit more egalitarian BET stylist Rick Davy and Cybele Sandy (who started the non-profit Brooklyn Style Foundation) with the help of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, launched last week's Brooklyn Fashion Week(end) in Dumbo. Close to twenty Brooklyn designers presented their designs to an audience of friends, buyers, and fashion press. Hey - to our surprise this was one of the more fun shows we've ever been to with its casual atmosphere and good time vibe. Hell, fashion is supposed to be fun right?
