Accessories Designers Tame The Wild Beast
Welcome Wood To The 21st Century
Wood is generally just an inspiration for fashion designers, ‘cause who’s really going to wear a blazer made out of an oak tree? By applying industrial design techniques to wood a crop of new designers have created original and very 21st century looks that you can actually sport to that gallery opening.
Both men and woman can find wood accessories within the Plya collection from Chicago’s rising stars Studio 1 AM. They’ve conquered nature - bringing you the spoils in the shape of watches, pendants, and even rings.
Also on our radar is California based Tivi, which offers wrist wear in warm textures to contrast very cold metal clasps and cuffs. We find the most exceptional pieces of the collection to be the handbags of exotic woods. For a simpler look, take a look at the slim, elegant bracelets and necklaces from our new favorite, Rena Tom. Wood has gotten a much-needed modern makeover. What’s next - the Electoral College, Amtrak, the mating ritual? Nah. We’ll hold our breath.
RANDOM TANGENT:
In 1970, Johnny Carson joked about a fictional toilet paper scarcity. This caused 20 million people to run out and cause an actual three-week shortage.
